The Bible has a lot of pages. Most of them have over a thousand. Unfortunately, most Christians base their theology and over-arching narrative on less than a hundred of those pages. Some of the gospels, a few chapters from Romans, a passage from Acts, maybe a few passages from the other Pauline epistles, and presto!
So why is the Bible so thick?
I think a good analogy is how big the world is. A lot of Christians are trying to describe the world using a regional map.
It’s long past overdue for the church to take a deeper look at Genesis through Malachi. Only then will a more accurate picture of our Christ emerge and us have a clearer ecclesiology and Christian mission.
